So, before we decide to wear spandex yearn clothing, we should learn about the fabric quality in depth.

What is Spandex Fabric and Yarn?

Spandex is a synthetic fabric considered for its impeccable elasticity. It is interesting to believe that, the term "spandex" is not any name of brand rather it came from generally referring to polyether-polyurea copolymer fabrics that have been made with a variety of production processes. The terms spandex, can also be considered with Lycra, and elastane as their synonyms.
It is a synthetic fiber and it is unexpectedly expandable. Spandex yarn is stronger than rubber and they are more durable than any other expandable fabrics. Because of its elasticity and durability, spandex can be used in a wide range of applications. The global demand for spandex yarns is over 650,000 tons a year. Because of the high demand sourcing has been reshaped and digitalized process of sourcing is getting popular. Though there are multiple ways to source but Now a days, Online b2b marketplaces are best place to directly source from spandex yarn manufacturers in bulk.

What is The Use?

Spandex is found in apparel and clothing articles where stretch is a must. As a matter of fact, comfort and fit is the important feature of spandex clothing, such as active wear, swimwear, fashion apparel, hosiery, denims, socks, and shaped garments.
Spandex or Lycra is used in a wide variety of different forms of consumer textiles. Since the early days of Lycra fabric production, the incredible elasticity of this substance has been so popular and being highly appreciated in sportwear consumer apparel markets.
This fabric is usually woven fabric and they are created with mixing with other types of textiles to increase their overall expandability. If a certain amount of spandex is mixed with polyester, cotton, or wool, the elasticity of the fabrics is increased incredibly. To determine the increased elasticity, it will always be noted in fabrics expandability. It is to remember that textile manufacturers always keep it in mind that this fabric can stretches up to eight times its original size. As for report, if you mix 10 percent spandex with other substance then it can be stretched to twice the original size of the fabric.

Lycra or spandex is very popular in all types of garments which are especially for fit and comfortable clothing. For example, it is commonly used for manufacturing underwear for both men and women. Spandex is also used, in a different way of saying most types of clothing those remains close to the skin contain at least a minimum about of spandex yarn so that they be comfortable and stretchy. To give more example, boxer for men, are typically made with spandex fabric because they have to be baggy. It also includes high amount of spandex in their waistbands so that they fit tightly around the abdomen.

Why use Spandex Fabric?

Spandex has a lot of benefit, including being lightweight and durable. It is really significant that it remains strong enough and stretchy. So that it can be extensively used in all range of sportswear. It also has to be stretchy and it will have to have ability to stretch back to its original size. If we compare with other types of clothing, we can understand they do not come back to the normal size and shape. To make clothing, spandex material is usually mixed with other substance like cotton or polyester. In a result the small amount of spandex results in stretchiness but they retains the original look of the original fabric and they also feel like of the major material.

Pros and Cons of Spandex

Advantages:
Talking of advantages of spandex fabric and yarn, the more we talk the more we can get them from core. We cannot think about the sports apparel industry without the spandex fabric and yarn. Besides underwear’s comfort and reliability could not be possible without the spandex yarn and fabrics. For example, Swimming costumes needs to be very fit and light so that your body parts move so easily. Similarly, gymnastics wear are mostly made with spandex fabrics and stockings, cycling shorts are not imagined without spandex. It provides additional support; it helps embracing with body and it also helps increasing the movability of the person who is wearing it. Because it helps garment to recover its shape so this is mostly used in the various segment of the clothing industry. Moreover, spandex is good for recovering the shape and remains dimensionally more stable especially after washing.
Disadvantages of Spandex
Not to doubt that every single thing has some disadvantages along with advantages. And spandex is no different.

Most important disadvantage is, it is synthetic fabric, so if the material goes higher than 10% and someone is wearing it for long then you must be aware that this is going to cause to health issues. It can cause rashes and it also create some trouble with blood circulation. Sometime it also causes trouble with individuals with sizes if the material percentages go up to 30%. Under extreme hit it also creates creases which is visible so much. These are some of the disadvantages of the spandex yarn fabrics and I think they are not much to be considered when it comes to its pros.

To conclude, spandex yarn and fabrics are the most used material for clothing of sports and underwear. Because they are very lightweight and comfortable, they can be worn out in any sporting events. They are durable despite being lightweight. Spandex is now getting popular for all types of clothing. Formal clothing is also using spandex so that people get comfort in formal attire.
